3 Work Week Survival Tips + Thursday 3 Link Up

It’s hardly a secret that I live for the weekends. I look forward to sleeping in, spending time with The Boy, and just not being at work. Unfortunately, there are five days known as the work week that stand between me and my little slice of heaven. Thankfully I have The Boy to help me get through, but when he’s away for a few days I find myself riding shot gun on the struggle bus. His latest work trip forced me to come up with a new daily routine to ensure everything and everyone (i.e. our fur babies) were taken care of. As a result, I’ve come up with 3 work week survival tips that are sure to make anyone’s work week pass  by a little more swiftly. (more…)

High-Functioning Depression: What it is & How it Looks

Over the past few days I have binged watched the entire first season of 13 Reasons Why on Netflix. 13 Reasons Why is a Netflix Original Series (based on the book 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher) that tells the tragic story of a teenager’s decision to end her own life. Not to reveal too much, but over the course of the season we watch everything that led up to Hannah Baker’s death, get to see all of the events from her perspective, and learn that her classmates basically had no idea the harm they were causing her. The show controversially addresses mental illness, specifically discussing the taboo topic of suicide. After finishing the season, I spent a few days reflecting on my own mental health and decided it was time to share my own experience with depression with the hopes (as always) to encourage anyone who needs and happens to stumble upon Royalty in Reality. Spring has officially sprung and the race is on to get your body summer ready! For over a year, the Boy and I have been trying to make exercise a regular part of our routine. As I’m sure you can imagine, we go through phases where we are in the gym 5x/week and others where we skip a whole week. He is much more diligent about working out than I am, as I tend to get bored of the same machines day after day. Lucky for me, a friend told me about a CycleBar opening in Creve Coeur and I jumped at the chance to spice up my workout routine with a few free classes.  (more…)

3 Reasons You Need a Best Friend at Work and How to Find One

I’m a firm believer that friendships develop in the most unlikely of places. Most people don’t go to work to make friends, but if they are fortunate enough to connect with someone the relationship may not get too deep since after all you know one another professionally. However, I’ve been blessed not just to find someone I kind of like at my job, but someone that I actually want to spend time with outside of work and in the short time that we’ve been closer probably knows me as well as my college friends. Now while some of you may think I’m crazy for letting a co-worker into my inner circle, I’m here to tell you that it has made me realize we all need to have a best friend at work! (more…)

5 Budget Friendly Destinations Millennials Will Love

I love to travel, but my budget doesn’t always let me jet set around the world. There seems to be an abundance of flight glitches that can get you across the world for just a few hundred dollars, but unless you have a travel fund/account or just a few hundred dollars lying around, these deals don’t really do you much good. Despite this, we all deserve to experience other cultures and see new places. There are ten destinations that have been deemed budget friendly that I would love to visit: (more…)
