How to plan 60+ meals with less than $250

The Boy and I are self-proclaimed foodies. One of our favorite things to do together is to try new restaurants and/or recipes. If you’ve been here before you’ve seen pictures of my honey and from what people tell me he’s a big guy. Despite his appearance, he generally doesn’t eat a shockingly absurd amount. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a man so he can put away some food, but he’s not eating us out of house and home. Anyway, even though I love food and like most people prefer the foods that have been deemed “unhealthy”, we try to make conscious decisions about what we put in our bodies and as always I try to avoid breaking the bank when I grocery shop. We have developed a system that keeps our spending down, let’s us consume healthy meals while allowing a little cheating, and gives us enough groceries to last no less than two weeks. After our trip to the grocery store last weekend, The Boy suggested that I share our strategies for how we get 60+ meals for less than $250. (more…)

Giving Away My Wedding Dress

After 6 long years, I have decided to give my wedding dress away. I’m hoping the next girl that wears it will be as beautiful on her day as I was on mine. Okay, let me stop, by now I’m sure most of you are wondering when I got married as I’ve never mentioned a husband and those of you who are close friends are probably gearing up to send me a “WTF” text. Don’t worry, the boy still hasn’t proposed and we didn’t elope behind your back. However, I really did giveaway a wedding dress, but not one that was worn to a wedding! (more…)

4 Fun Ways to Earn Extra Income

One of my 2016 goals is to monetize this blog. I’ve spent a lot of time reading other blogger’s tips to generate income from a blog, but was having a hard time applying those tips. I felt like I needed to do a few things before I was ready to monetize. Over the weekend I had a blog consultation with my blogger buddy Diana of The Coffee Date. She’s really been helping and teaching me everything I need to know to be a successful blogger. Her biggest piece of advice was to narrow my focus/pick a clear topic. By the end of our conversation, I realized I want make Royalty in Reality all about incorporating budgeting/saving/making money into all aspects of your life. My primary goal is to give you all the tools you need to be well dressed, eat good food, see the world, and enjoy high quality relationships without clearing out your bank account. Don’t worry you will still get fashion/beauty posts, relationship stuff, and recipes. You will just be getting a lot more about saving, budgeting, and fun ways to earn extra income. Today we are going to focus on the latter topic. (more…)

10 Inexpensive Winter Date Ideas

It seems as though majority of America is experiencing a pretty warm winter. Here in St. Louis, Missouri we are still seeing temps as high as 65 during the day but as low as mid 20’s at night. Even though we haven’t had any snow, we have had an abundance of rain and everything is dead and dreary. With the weather being so rainy, I feel even more restricted when trying to think of date ideas than when it’s simply cold and/or snowing. I can bundle up and brave the cold, but y’all know rain/humidity and being a naturalista just don’t mix. (more…)

How to Buy Christmas Gifts at the Last Minute and NOT go Broke

Let’s be real, if you still have Christmas shopping to do, you are officially behind and in the category of “last-minute shopping”. Don’t worry, I’m there too. I just started my shopping this past weekend and I still have quite a bit more to do. The holiday season can be really stressful for Royals on a tight budget. As I’ve gotten older, I really enjoy buying gifts for my family and now that I’m working, I can’t get way with a macaroni necklace for my mom (not that I even want to). It would be so easy to go to a really nice store and just buy the most expensive things I know those I’m giving gifts to would like, come home, wrap it up, and relish in the fact that it took my less than three hours to get my shopping done. Unfortunately, the way my bank account and bills are set up, this isn’t an option and I have to be much more strategic with my shopping. In the spirit of spreading holiday cheer I figured I’d share my personal game plan for buying Christmas gifts at the last-minute and not going broke! (more…)
