I don’t know very many families that haven’t been touched by cancer in some way. According to the National Cancer Institute, over 1.6 million people would be diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and almost 600,000 of these people would die from the disease. Fortunately, that means one million people will be able to call themselves survivors and be able to continue living purposeful lives. Celebrate Style will be honoring these survivors and their fans with a fashion show benefiting the Siteman Cancer Center.

Celebrate Style to Support The Siteman Cancer Center

Cancer has touched my life on more than one occasion. While each instance has played a role in shaping my life, I think the passing of my best friend’s dad was one of the most influential. I can’t really put into words what Scott meant to me, his family, his friends, and well basically everyone he came in contact with, but Scott had a way of being everything to everyone, without feeling the need to be the star of the show. Since his passing, I’ve watched his wife and daughter carrying on his legacy in a way I know he is all too proud of. I knew when I was asked to support and attend the Celebrate Style event I couldn’t pass up my opportunity to honor Scott’s life by helping to raise money for cancer research and survivor programs.

The Celebrate Style Fashion Show will take place on September 22nd at the Contemporary Arts Museum at 7pm. This non-profit cocktail party and runway show will feature cancer survivors while supporting local trendsetters, entrepreneurs, and retailers. I am excited to attend the show to help raise money for the Siteman Cancer Center, to mingle with my fellow fashion lovers, and to celebrate all of the cancer survivors and their families/friends. I will not only be celebrating those who have faced a battle with cancer and won, but also those who have faced a battle and lost.

What I love most about the Celebrate Style Fashion Show is the opportunity it affords survivors to get dressed up in trendy clothes and feel beautiful/handsome again. It is no secret the toll cancer treatments can take on the body and a patient’s physical appearance. I imagine this uncontrollable transformation can be hard to accept, but I hope that an evening celebrating what survivors have overcome will help anyone in doubt restore their confidence.

I was gifted this super cute “celebrate style” tank to showcase my style while promoting the fashion show. I’d describe my personal style as cautiously chic. You will seldom catch me mixing and matching prints, but I’m a sucker for statement jewelry, pops of color, and fun handbags. I decided to throw all three in the mix to create a fun chic look. I’m loving the statement t-shirt trend and am thrilled to be adding this one to my arsenal. You guys can definitely expect to see it again!
